Two Songs of Czeslaw Milosz (Soprano)

Date of Composition: 2004

Duration: 5'

Category: Duo

Instrumentation: Soprano, Piano

The two poems set were both written during WW II. In the first one, A Song On the End of the World, the apocalypse is imagined in the penultimate line, which is then repeated. The simplicity of the music in the opening of Recovery is as though one emerged from a shelter to find the world still existent.

Two Songs of Czeslaw Milosz have been recorded by Delea Shand, soprano and Nils Vigeland on a CD Songs of Nils Vigeland, available on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
